How to: Día de los Muertos Make-up

1. Wash your face with a skin cleanser and apply a moisturizer (this will help prevent breaking out after wearing lots of makeup).

2. Mix white ‘Cream Makeup’ with your normal liquid foundation until you get the desired lighter color. Apply all over face and blend into neck. I covered this with a face powder to blend it and prevent smudges.

3. Use a black cream eye liner, like the one below that I used (found here) for all the black on your face. I used my finger to create the flowers around my eyes. I used this brush to draw on the nose and mouth stitches. (Before starting on the eyes, I covered the area with this eye shadow primer first. It might not be necessary with this type of eye makeup, but it does help prevent smudges on your eyelids.)

4. Use a red cream, like the one pictured above, to add the color to your eyes and lips (found here). The product I used works amazingly well! Its waterproof and I never had to reapply it after 6 hours of wear. I put it on my eyes and lips using my finger.

5. Use a cotton square rubbed in brown or black powder eye shadow to create the cheekbone lines. I used Mac’s ‘Carbon’ mixed with HIP’s gold shadow.

Add mascara and fake eyelashes if desired (I did)….then you are done!

By using some of these nicer products instead of a Halloween makeup kit, you will have a much longer lasting, vibrant look for an entire day or night! The photos below were taken 6 hours after applying the makeup.
